Before I have a kid I wondered why parents spent so much for their child's first birthday whereas the child is still very young to understand. Now when I am in that shoe I know the feeling and how excited it is to commemorate our child's one-year milestone. I have planned to organise a party for Ady's first birthday since three months back. I proposed the venue to hubby and he agreed so I booked the place exactly two months before the date. We are lucky this year because 17th of June falls on Sunday so the event could be done exactly on Ady's birthday. The party was held in A&W 3K Subang because it is near our home. Moreover, when I was a kid I have always dream of having a party at A&W because the bear mascot will be there celebrating the party together. I remember the excitement when the bear made his appearance so it will be a fun event for everybody.
It was not a huge celebration so we only invited close family members and friends. The party was supposed to start at 3:00 pm but we waited until majority of guests arrived to kick it off. While waiting, some guests wrote their birthday wishes for the birthday boy in the guest book that I have prepared. It was a last minute idea actually. I thought it would be memorable to have a guest book on Ady's first birthday so he will know who attended his first ever birthday and read the wishes when he is older later. At the same time, we also went around and snapped photos of the birthday boy with the guests using my Instax to be given as door gift.
The event started with doa recital by my father-in-law and we then invited guests to enjoy the food before we proceed to the next agenda. The food was ordered according to available party package so there were fried chicken, nuggets, hot dogs and fries served with A&W's trademark root beer.
At 4:30 pm the party lady invited all of us to gather around and that was when the excitement begun as the bear mascot made his appearance. It was so happening! We danced according to his steps and we could not stop laughing watching him moving his belly. The party continues with games like poisonous balloon, musical chair, balloon blowing, quiz and few others. While the activity went on, I was really surprised when another bear came and joined us. Coolness! One bear is good, two bears double the excitement. I didn't expect that and I guess I was not the only one excited about it because most of us did. It was fun watching everybody having fun.
The main highlight of the party is no other than cake cutting ceremony so we saved that for the last agenda of the day. I ordered the butter cake from Norli Cake and I was very satisfied with the outcome and good taste. Anyway, since the birthday boy is still young to understand, the parents did the candle blowing on behalf of him. Do we look more excited than the birthday boy himself? Look at the photo and be the judge...haha!
Guests started going back after eating their cakes as it was already 5 something in the evening. Every family brought back their goodies which is a fridge magnet of their instant photo with the birthday boy as memory. We did not miss taking individual group photos with all the guests, thanks to the official photographer who is actually my colleague and his friends.
Alhamdulillah, everything went well according to plans. Our heartiest appreciation goes to all the guests - my parents, my lil sister, my parents in law, sisters and brothers in law, relatives (pak njang's family and chik's family), BFFs, Riza and Hassanul with their kids, Isma with Hairil and his sister, Eunose and Nurul, Zam and Tie with Irfan, Tobek with his wife and son; and not forgetting the photographers and A&W personnels. Thank you everyone for attending and also, for the gifts. Ah, Ady received a lot of presents that day from educational toys, clothes, foldable pool, books, soft toy, fire engine truck, construction toys and also a toy car that he can rides. Enough toys to keep him occupied for years... thank you, thank you, thank you!
Fun is fun. Yet still, we really hope all of you can pray for Ady's success in life and may he grow up healthily as a good son, a good person and a good civillian.
I have to end this post with more photos. The photographers took more than a thousand pictures and they were too pretty to be left out. I had hard time choosing and editing them so I insist to post them together. Enjoice!
Among moments to remember...
The parents and the birthday boy...
" We love you, Ady Rifqi! "

Yuyu..Ive booked a place at the Shah alam batu tiga tol petronas A&W to celebrate my son's bday next week...choosed the outdoor package B which is rm600 for 37 adults and 16kids..bsides..the branch allow me to brin in some outdoor foods such as nadi goreng or mee hoon and anything we want coz theyre very understandig..
I dowan to do it at home due to hassle of cleaning up..decorating and worst part..have to spend rm250-300 jst for a canopy witout air conditionig system..so its totally not worth..doing in A&w...i just hav to invite ppl and prepare my son well for tht big night...
Thank you for sharing Brian. I also prefer doing it elsewhere to escape the cleaning, decorating hassle and moreover having it outside the house gives different party ambience. A&W is a great place because it is not very packed with people compared to McD. I went to a friend's party at McD and they had to rush out cleaning the place because the next birthday girl and guests were already waiting outside.
Yuyu, similar to Brian saya pun spent RM600 untuk 60 orang (average RM10 seorang). Diorang ada pakej siap F&B, party pack dengan bear so boleh pilih ikut kesesuaian. Kek kena bawa sendiri. Cuba gi A&W dan tanya. Kalau boleh book siap2 sebab ramai orang buat party takut penuh. Kalau ada pape lagi nak tanya can email me sitiharyati@gmail.com. All the best :-)
