:: the last of 2013 ::

This is my first and last post for December 2013.

When I look back, 2013 is not a bad year after all although six months towards the end of it was quite tough. In short I would describe this as a "strengthening the fundamentals" year for myself and our family. I finally purchased a property, gave my car a new look, leaped into a new work portfolio and also bought a number of new handbags, if that can be considered as investments too ^_^

Syukran ya Allah for giving me a beautiful family, happiness, rezeki and also the endurance to go through all the challenges.

May the new year brings more prosperity to all of us, insyaallah.

Goodbye 2013. Welcome 2014.

:: all set for world domination ::

So, do you know who this person is?

In case you never seen him anywhere before, allow me to introduce this evil shizzle Dr. Evil from the famous trilogy, Austin Powers. 

I should not start writing about Austin Powers because that movie is one of my all-time favourite other than the American Pie (ok, please don't judge me :-P). Anyway, I could write a lot of stuff that could only be understood by those who have seen Austin Powers as frequent as myself and I'm telling you the frequency level is quite high because back in univ days, there was this period of time where I watched the movie every single day after returning back from class which my roomates who are my current bffs could easily verify this fact. Although the hero is Mr. Austin Powers, my interest was not him as I preferred the bad guy instead, no other than the egghead Dr. Evil because I found him funny and sweet in an evil way.

Dr. Evil cloned himself in a mini version which he called Mini-me but he also got another son, Scott Evil aka. Scotty-Doo. I believed every criminal has a soft spot and for Dr. Evil, he always try his best to be a good father especially trying to get along with Scott who is a teenager. I used to memorise a lot of quotes by Dr. Evil and among my favourite and memorable one is from this scene:

Scott: Why did you run out on me?
Dr. Evil: Because you're not quite evil enough. Well it's true! It's true! You're semi-evil. You're quasi-evil. You're the margarine of evil. You're the Diet Coke of evil. Just one calorie, not evil enough.

Anyway, there was a commotion after that and later Dr. Evil grabbed a big globe and said directly to the camera "The world is mine! The world is mine!"

Yes, Dr. Evil is obsessed with world domination from the beginning till the end and as one of his die hard fan, this is a must-have for me when I first saw it on display:

It's a plain notebook by San Francisco Coffee and now, I am feeling like Dr. Evil himself. All set for world domination!

I think San Francisco Coffee recently hired new advertising agency and as Creative Multimedia students, Nor and myself could not stop from noticing it because the idea of using catchy statements in their campaigns (and also on napkins) is just awesome. Apart from the one I got, there are two other versions; in black and in white cover with different statements. The notebooks are sold in conjunction with the holiday season for RM17.90 each and they are like 'hot banana fritters' (laris macam goreng pisang panasss) so if you're interested, hurry and check it out at the nearest San Francisco outlet.

p/s: the Mayans predicted world to end this Friday, 21.12.12 and people keep on discussing about it. It's only two days away so what say you?
As a muslim, I would say we all have to be ready for death anytime, anywhere because death is unpredictable. Wallahualam.

:: pink overload ::

I have organised a briefing and demo session on new feature in our claim system for all company's secretaries in Klang Valley and it is happening today. Best part of it, the speaker of the session is no other than myself. I usually plan what I am going to wear to office on the next day the night earlier especially when I am having something important like meeting, get together, townhall session or any kind of event, but last night I was too tired so I felt asleep before I could decide what to be worn. Too bad, I didn't wake up as early as expected.

It was already 6 something. After taking shower and preparing Ady's stuff, I was left with only few minutes to decide and prepare myself because I had to rush to get a parking spot inside the building. Thank God it is Friday. At least I could turn to something that doesn't require much ironing so I just grabbed my favourite grey skinny pants and paired it with cardie, basic tee, striped shawl and heels. I was in a rush. I picked whatever crossed my mind so when I was driving and already calmed I just realised that I was overloaded in pink.

Pink shawl, pink cardie, pink tee, pink heels; not forgetting pink ipad casing and pink lanyard tag too. Although they are in different shades, they are still in the pink family. If being asked "what is my favourite colour?" people would not hesitate to answer it because the answer lies here:

If you are allergic to pink, I have to say sorry for hurting you. Although as Steven Tyler sang 'pink is my obsession' I still thought it is a bit too much at first but I'm kind of like it now. Perhaps this can be considered as a tribute to my favourite colour. No? 

Well well well, on another note the morning demo session was a success. Almost 60 people came and few others will come later in the afternoon session. I haven't talk to a group of people for quite some time already. The last time was earlier this year when Rabby invited me as a guest speaker, talking about event management in front of her students. Frankly speaking, I have passion in teaching, presenting or giving talk about topics that I really like and good at. I like the idea of being a guest speaker or part time lecturer but not interested in being a full time teacher or trainer though. Anyway I used to be a master of ceremony or emcee for many events within and outside the company and actually like the role a lot but I have decided to slow down on that because of personal reasons. Hmph.

One of my colleague said she could listen clearly to what I said although her cubicle is few metres away from the briefing area. Yes, I have a loud voice and thank you for the compliment.

:: 20.11.2011 ::

It's another anticipated date of the year after 11.11.11. Falls on a Sunday, first week of school holiday makes it a perfect day for wedding reception so do expect heavy traffic on the road today. As for me, neither 11.11.11 nor 20.11.2011 has any significance to my life. We have a wedding to attend and at 11.55am we are still lazing on the bed like other Sundays. I love spending time on the bed with Ady on Sunday because it is relaxing. We can play, I sing him nursery rhymes, read him books and this morning he did something that impressed me:


My baby is growing fast. One day I will surely miss this moment but thanks to technology advancement I could record the milestones here. I should be ready for the wedding now. Goodbye and Happy 20.11.2011.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about RedMummy the famous blogger but since I'm now a mother and I was wearing red, I deserve to be called RedMummy too right? :-P

Our department, Group Human Capital Management's hari raya celebration was held last Tuesday at TM Training Centre, Jalan Semarak. It was a close event for Human Capital's staff but those attended mostly donned in their best baju kurung, kebaya or baju melayu complete with sampin and songkok. I had hard time finding what to wear because I only have one raya dress that looks a tad too glamorous for a day event so I just wore that old red kebaya instead. Ok I know it was also a bit OTT to be worn from early morning but hey, it's Hari Raya... need to be extra pretty lor. Hehe.

I don't have much time to write about the event so I just let these pictures and short captions do the job.

Choosing the perfect gift for myself was quite challenging because I didn't want to end up with food or beverages. Made an excellent choice and got a set of 3-in-1 plasticware :-D

Here's a sneak peek of my Hari Raya dress...

We went to Jalan TAR on Wednesday night searching for hubby's baju melayu. Like last year, I let him chose his baju melayu and the theme colour first before I bought mine; and also like last year, shopping was done at the very last minute. The area was crowded as expected. We brought Ady together but had to carry him instead of using stroller as it was a lot more easier and our baby was asleep most of the time so there was no trouble at all. We walked from beginning to end of the stalls but hubby couldn't decide. Searching for his baju melayu was quite challenging because most small size tops was not that small so it didn't fit him well. He bought his baju melayu from KL Tradisional last year and it suited him so we hoped to find something from that brand but neither caught his attention.

After walking through long stretch of stalls that lasted more than 1 km, we walked back from the end and that dress caught my attention. It was a long sleeve maxi chiffon dress with a big bling-bling in the middle of the waist. It was love at the first sight because that dress really reflects my taste. At first I was quite disappointed knowing that the dress was in free size because I thought it won't fit me well, but surprisingly it looked good on my postpartum body. No alteration needed because the length fell nicely when it is worn with heels later. I was a bit concerned on the colour though because it would be difficult for hubby to choose his baju melayu that matches the tone but he said not to worry. There were few other colours in different designs but hubby knew my taste and my colour very well so there she is now in my possession. By the way, compared to its quality and look the dress was sold at a very reasonable price. Never mind that it was bought at Jalan TAR and not from fancy boutiques because as long as it suits my taste, looks gorgeous and reasonably priced... I'm more than happy :-)

That night we returned home without any baju melayu so we went to PKNS Shah Alam last night to continue our search. There were a number of stalls selling baju melayu but they were a bit expensive and most doubled the price sold at Jalan TAR with the same fabric and quality. We managed getting a small baju melayu Johor for Ady though at RM40 after discount (sold at RM48 at first). Have to do a bit of alteration at the sleeves and pants but he sure gonna look cute in it later. To cut the story short, we ended going to Jalan TAR again last night and to cut the story shotter, we returned home with two baju melayu.

It's going to be a memorable Hari Raya. Our first Raya with our son.

:: ops bersih ::

Don't get me wrong, this is not about the Bersih rally but my personal Bersih project which is decluttering and organizing items in my so-called 'walk in wardrobe'. After moving into this house since two years ago I suddenly got the urge to tidy up the room. The project started last week with the first wardrobe and my goodness, for the first time in my life I was surprised with how many clothes I have! There were A LOT and some even forgotten so there were few "oh?" and "ahaa" while I was organizing them. Started with the first tier I took out everything and organized them back into the wardrobe after deciding which one to leave and which one remains. Most items were in good condition but there were some white tops which haven't been "seen" for ages started having yellow spots hence require bleaching. After the first tier I continued with the second tier, then the third one, followed by those on hangers. I then moved to the drawer chest and finally the shoe rack. Living with a baby doesn't give me much freedom, hence the project didn't finish in one day. I could only continue when Ady was sleeping on his own and it didn't happen everyday so it took me almost 2 weeks to complete everything. Ops Bersih ended yesterday. Now, I'm satisfied because they are all well organized and I will no longer keep items that won't be useful. 

I didn't snap any photo at the beginning of the project but this was how the wardrobe previously looks like. Even KiKi loves hiding inside there before. Can you spot her?

Now everything is neat. Top tier is for tops and jeans. In the middle is pants and skirts while the bottom tier is for baju kurung and jubah. On hangers are cardigans, suits and few skirts, dresses and jubah.The wardrobe is totally full. There are another similar full stack of tops, bottoms and baju kurung at the back of each line. I shouldn't buy any new clothes after this. Seriously. (yes, I am dead serious - yeahh right!)

Drawers are for tank tops, inners and scarves.

This is wardrobe no. 2 and those are my working tops / shirts. Couldn't do anything about this as it is already full to the max. There are even 2 tops in 1 hanger. Special reminder to myself: this has no more room for new top. Period.

Most of those shoes need to be sent to cobbler so I don't know whether I should send them for donation or just throm them away. There are few pairs of favourite shoes inside there for example the pink one on top by Eclipse but I have to stay strong. I don't want to keep them anymore and because I will have good reasons to buy new pair of shoes.

My almost-empty shoe racks. Not so many left :-( Although I keep my flats in another shoe rack at the hall but that doesn't count. I still need to start my collection all over again. Should I say yay or nay?

Overall, I'm satisfied with Ops Bersih. I should make this an annual project so I could get rid of unwanted, outdated items and ensure everything is neat and organize. Well, hopefully this inspire you to start with your own spring cleaning project too ;-)
